Transit Advisory Committee

THAT the agenda for the Transit Advisory Committee meeting held on January 10, 2024 be approved as distributed.

THAT, further to report CS-23-25 dated November 28, 2023 from the Corporate Services Department regarding Committee Structure and Public Appointment Processes the Transit Advisory Committee supports Option 2 - restructuring the general advisory committees as working groups; AND THAT, with respect to the recommendation regarding an amalgamation of Active Transportation, Parking and Transit matters as a Transportation and Parking Working Group, the Transit Advisory Committee provides the following comments: • The proposal is a logical evolution that removes silos as recommended by the Multi-modal Transportation Master Plan • The membership should seek balance and promote symbiotic relationships among members and agency representatives to avoid divides between vehicle users, transit users and active transportation users (eg. cyclists); AND THAT, with respect to processes for a new Council to review and make appointments aligned to their term of Council there are no concerns; AND THAT citizen appointees to a working group should represent a majority of residents of Orillia with opportunities for local area representation considered when a non-resident may bring particular knowledge, skills or expertise to the group; AND THAT working groups invite agency representation broadly to ensure a holistic representation; AND THAT, with respect to simplified guidelines, agendas and minutes formats, using Council’s procedure by-law when required, the Transit Advisory Committee suggests that
