THAT, further to the memo dated August 29, 2023 from the Director Legislative, Building, Parking & Transit Services regarding an Increase to the On-street Parking Meter Rate to $3 per hour, the Parking Advisory Committee does not support this increase and provides the following comments: • A new rate structure for parking was implemented once in 2023 and another increase may not be publicly well received. • A full year of data from 2023 rate increases would be helpful to understand if the 2023 increases had any impact for on-street versus parking in the municipal lots. • Conversely, discussion regarding a 10-year strategic/capital plan for parking should be a first consideration.
