THAT, further to report CS-23-25 dated November 28, 2023 from the Corporate Services Department regarding Committee Structure and Public Appointment Processes the Accessibility Advisory Committee provides the following comments: - with respect to simplified agendas and minutes formats, the Committee believes that the reduction of red-tape, bureaucracy, and regulations will encourage greater overall public engagement; - with respect to changes in remuneration members commented that the modest amount at least covers expenses such as transportation, babysitters, or other minor expenses related to participation which may provide for equitable opportunities to participate; - the Committee believes that the two-year appointments for Council representation is beneficial for continuity for the Mandatory Advisory Committees, and to avoid disrupting the momentum of any ongoing activities; - the Committee likes the idea of an “Orientation-style” gathering of all the committees where appointees are encouraged to meet each other, Council members and learn about the activities of each, including some fun games to encourage social sharing; AND THAT the Committee supports the concept outlined by Option 1 - new public engagement framework with 4 Engagement Teams for the general advisory committees recognizing that it may be the "ideal" final outcome, however, for change management, it may take an evolution through the working groups proposed by Option 2 to realize that ideal in the long term.
